About Us

Welcome to our family blog!! We are Richard and Portia Allen. We are the loving and esteemed parents to four beautiful children, Seamus, Lylian, Maddalaena and Blake. We are a Navy family. Which means that we move around a lot, meet a ton of new people and have the opportunity to experience new and different areas of the country and possibly the world. On this page you will learn about who we are as a family and as individuals. You'll also learn about what we want to accomplish by having this blog.

First and foremost we are followers of Christ. My husband or The Hubs as I call him, The Hubs is a S.O.N.A.R. Technician in the United States Navy. He rides submarines for a living. Now so of you are like "That's Crazy!". For us, it pays the bills and enables me to do all this DIY yourself stuff around our home. The Hubs is also a student at Liberty University and he is studying to become a Pastor. Whether that means starting a church or moving into a church, it's totally in God's hands.

My name is Portia. I'm the "Ma" "Mommy" "Mom" "Wife" "The Wife" or "Babe" in our household. This blog is sort of my brainchild. As a stay at home mom I am sort of afforded the ability to DIY and be able to raise my children all at the same time. And I love it. My children are involved in a lot of my DIY projects, which for them is an awesome hands on experience. For me, it serves as an I-know-where-you-are-at-most-times experience. It's my little way of keeping an eye on them all.

Children are a blessing from the Lord. And I totally agree with that...on most days lol. Just kidding. My children are my pride and joy. They're beautiful, intelligent, spunky and one of a kind. I love them with all of my heart. The Hubs and I made a vow to raise them in the Lord for His glory. No onto the fun part...who they are. Describing my children is a less than tumultuous task. They are all different with a lot of the same qualities.
